Independence Day.  A day to celebrate our freedom from a country that no longer represented what the colonists needed nor wanted.  Control from British rule and the ability to govern ourselves.  Freedom to make our own choices. 

As a country we have long believed in independence, the unalienable right of all humans to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.  Also stating an equal right to property.  ALL HUMANS.   

I value my independence and we are losing that independence.  That right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.  The independence to think for ourselves.  The independence to choose for ourselves.  The independence to our own spiritual journey or faith of our own choice. The independence to marry whom we choose.  The independence to our own private sexual journey. 

Today's independence day has a somber feel.  We have to fight for our independence from a government that wants to take our independence.  We are at a crossroads and we must stand up for the unalienable right of ALL humans right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. 

Today I celebrate independence.
