MEN’S FASHION WEEK  FW24

A quick insight to what our buyer is up to in New York City. From our favorite looks, to what goes on behind the scenes to bring you the best.

Men’s Market Week

Words by Cade Hawks

Market and Fashion week are always some of my favorite times of the year. At Habits we go to market twice a year, Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter. January is time for Men’s Fall/Winter ‘24 market, and it is easily my favorite season to attend. Winter colors resonate with me personally, but also reflect Habits’ clean, and refined aesthetic. Some trending colors for the upcoming year are purple, red, orange, and of course all the winter classics such as black, navy, olive, khaki, and off-white/cream. At Habits we try to curate pieces that you will have forever, regardless of major trends. Of course we will have a few fun pops of color, maybe a unique pattern, but the majority of the buy is rooted in Habits’ philosophy. We believe as our western sensibilities do, that the designers and products that have an endurance based in quality and style will always transcend trends. Becoming future vintage.

This season we are excited to bring in two new brands for both men and women. The first is Snow Peak, which I am sure many are familiar with. It can be described as Japanese patagonia with more emphasis on fashion, lifestyle, and curating a unique outdoor experience.

These pieces will easily mix into the Habits line up, while also catering to the high-function needs the valley demands. One of my personal pieces from Snow Peak is the flexible insulated shirt. It is my go-to ski layer under my shell, my favorite warm layer to wear on a chilly hike or a cold day skateboarding. I will also wear it out to a nice dinner, or casually around New York. Its chic, cool, and functions amazingly.

The next brand we are excited to bring in is Nanga. Another outdoor Japanese brand, but this time they are purely focused on creating the perfect puffy jacket. There are so many outerwear companies in Jackson and we wanted to bring in something different, but can still cater to the fashion-conscious person, while also the skier or outdoor enthusiast that is craving a highly functional, fully waterproof puffy with 800 fill power.

Overall, market week is an insanely busy time but also a super fun time of year. There is all the tradeshows to attend such as MAN/WOMAN, Welcome Edition, and PROJECT NY. There are also different independent showrooms for specific brands. As well as digital appointments for the brands we carry that cannot make it to the US. After the shows there are always networking parties and events full of some inspirational people and outfits. Then its back to fulfilling orders, negotiating deliveries and minimums, and then it’s the waiting game.

We will start to receive our orders in August and it’s always so exciting seeing the buys come to life and fill the store with all new colors. Its always a fun experience meeting, and talking to all the brands and store owners. Discussing what brands we love, and what brands we might avoid. I am excited to show you what Habits has coming for next winter! We know you’ll be just as excited as we are once you see it.
